Use Isabel with Clover

Install, set up, manage billing, and reconnect your Clover receptionist.

5 min readUpdated October 6, 2026

Before you start

Install Isabel from the Clover App Market for the merchant you want to connect. You need an Isabel login, a verified Isabel subscription, and a business phone line that can forward calls to the US phone number Isabel provides. Previewing the receptionist in your browser also requires microphone access.

A Clover catalog is not required for the core receptionist. Product lookup, ordering, discounts, and online payment links depend on your Clover service plan, permissions, and feature setup. Only available features appear in Tools → Clover. Call forwarding is configured with your phone provider; installing the app alone does not forward calls.

Install and complete setup

  1. Open Isabel from your apps in Clover, then create an Isabel login or sign in to your existing account.
  2. Authorize the intended Clover merchant. Isabel imports available business details and checks your app subscription.
  3. Review the imported details and complete any missing fields. Customize the receptionist, preview it, and accept the setup terms.
  4. Once your Isabel number is ready, follow the call-forwarding instructions and place a test call from another phone.

After setup is complete, later visits open your assistant instead of restarting onboarding. If you already paid through Clover, do not create a second direct subscription to resolve a setup problem.

Plans, minutes, and subscription changes

Billing shows your verified plan, subscription status, minutes used, and remaining allowance. Use Manage in Clover to review your App Market subscription or change it. The trial, prices, renewal dates, cancellation, and refund terms are the ones presented by Clover for your purchase.

If verification is pending after a purchase, open Billing or Clover setup and select Refresh subscription. Contact support if it remains pending. A billing problem does not erase your completed setup. Existing customers who connected Clover while retaining a direct Isabel subscription keep that original billing provider; connecting Clover does not silently move or duplicate their subscription.

Reconnect or remove the app

If authorization needs attention, open Tools → Clover and reconnect the same merchant. If a Clover launch reports a different merchant, open the Clover account already linked to Isabel. Contact support before changing the linked merchant.

To disconnect, remove Isabel from your apps in Clover. Isabel does not provide a local Clover disconnect button. For a Clover-billed subscription, manage cancellation in Clover and check the access status shown there. Turn off call forwarding before removing the app or stopping service so callers can still reach your business.

Removing the app does not delete your Isabel account or previously saved records. To request account closure, email support@callisabel.com. For data access or deletion, email privacy@callisabel.com. Reinstalling should use the same Isabel account; it does not transfer another merchant's data or subscription.

Optional orders and payment links

When your Clover configuration supports ordering, Isabel asks the caller to confirm supported items and Clover's quoted total before creating a pickup order. Unsupported items or uncertain totals are handed to your team. Staff still confirms fulfillment and pickup timing.

Online payment links require additional Clover setup and your opt-in. With the caller's consent, Isabel sends a Clover-hosted checkout link by text. A sent link is not proof of payment; payment status must be verified. Never give card numbers to the receptionist. These order payments are separate from your Isabel app subscription.
